Bazzite looks good for beginners, I like cachyos as a beginner but im a tinkerer, using gnome reminds me of cydia, I like cachyos because unlimited options, never feel like I can’t install something, it’s prob on the aur or whatever.
if cachyos pacman for cachyosrepo paru for aur At first I was confused on packages being missing
grab flatpak support and use flathub for some things
appimages are nice with gear lever (updates/menu)
can easily grab snapd support if you want to cover more areas
debtap to make debs usable on arch
I had always been turned away from linux because of the many formats deb, snap, etc. and being confused about support. But now I know I can get support for most things just installing whats needed from their website. (seems easiest with arch, least instructions)
BTW, while that made me comfortable when I swapped, knowing I can have whatever. I only needed to add flatpak support, and grab gearlever, everything else is unnecessary and available on the aur or as an appimage typically.
feed go up when it increases in price so it’s not even a good thing for it to have high value
I like autocompetion/suggestions
Fish is the cachyos default, I used oh my zsh too, I honestly cant tell a difference as a non dev end user
That seems useful in general, but kando was more what I was looking fot
Oh I’ll definitely look into that, sounds fun to setup
That’s great and definitely more on par with what I was looking for, thank you!
I want a dock/panel that goes away and pops up based on a shortcut, like slides on screen or pops up on top, rofis prob the move, like ddterm but for games
I saw that while looking but isn’t it just another way to search? I want to limit what can be sin just have a few specific games
I assumed someone would’ve made something that looks nice lol
Feel free to tell them why and help fill us in on whats better lol, im sure no one minds finding better, or is it because youd rather use an app or website?
Yeah i never used norton commander so mc was a bit rough looking for me, but it was the first one I saw and why I found yazi, ranger, etc. There are a ton of them, just listed the few i tried
I always click on it from the start menu, forgot it was terminal based
I do like btop for performance monitoring, your comment somehow reminded me
love ssh, got me to appreciate and learn to use the terminal more, being able to use a pc without a de is such a good feeling
I think the easiest way is sftp over tailscale, works over any distance, easy enough to setup, plenty of apps, ish for an iphoneterminal apk add openssh (idk how to dload there but you should be able to, can convert files locally using ffmpeg off an iphone, pretty great), termius/termix/neoserver for a more “modern” way to connect into the terminal and sftp. I prefer apps with a terminal jic I need to use it to convert something real quick on my pc.
So gimp on android?
I think ppl get terminal anxiety but thats less and less of an issue, like you don’t need to ever touch it because of stuff like octopi, software/discover/bazaar,etc. I remember just getting anxious thinking id forget a command I really need to remember and I wouldn’t have internet axis and id be fked (not an issue lol)
Cachyos bro, installing all gaming related things is one click or installed by default on Bazzite
