Used to be my favorite launcher and I, too, abandoned it. Sad, really.
I wonder if it’s possible that they’re paid money by Google to not support Firefox?
This makes no sense. In my entire software development career, no government agency ever built an app in-house. It’s always contracted, to random individuals or companies. So this badge is garbage.
I miss my LG phone that let me customize the LED color based on app. That way if it were one color I knew it was semi-important, but other colors I knew were…dismissible.
I mean, yes and no. I have multiple Slack and multiple Teams instances. I also have 10 or so email accounts and then SMS and Signal.
Even spammy app notifications aside, I definitely get a lot.
But my solution is just leaving my phone on silent 24/7. So this feature wouldn’t really change anything.
I just set my phone to silent a couple years back and have never been happier. Have I missed a few phone calls? Yeah, but that is acceptable collateral damage.
I otherwise check on my own terms and that’s fine by me…(read: I pick up my phone, notice the number of notifications, and just click Clear All)
I have an S23U and a P8P and I vastly prefer the S23U.
But, if it’s flashability you’re after then it’d have to be the Pixel.
I really don’t understand the Material allure.
I build web apps as a job and the impression I get is that everyone wants Material, “because” - but I don’t know if anyone wants it other than “because” it’s the buzzword of the day.
And it always sucks because the clients always say, “Follow Material guidelines BUT make this smaller, make this less round, use this font we paid for, make the buttons different, and also customize all these components”.
It’s dumb.
We don’t use Signal for SMS, we use Signal for E2E encryption. Signal for SMS is useless.
I’ve basically started telling people to either message me on Signal or I likely won’t respond in a timely manner, if ever. Not my problem. Urgent? Better call.
Dick move? Maybe. But fuck SMS and fuck iMessage.
True, but my entire family uses iPhones and I made them all switch to Signal.
iMessage isn’t required.
At this point I wonder if they just do this shit to see how many people subscribe to it so they can laugh at our expense.
As a contract software engineer that works with UI/UX designers across multiple industries and technologies, Google’s suggested UI/UX is typically not used.
Ah, thank you. It was KDE Neon, sorry!
I agree with the other comment.
I found KDE Neon and Ubuntu pretty easy to use out of box as well.
PopOS has, maybe, a benefit of Nvidia drivers? But Mint installed them for me during the intro Toot Oriole.
edit: Clarified KDE to add Neon
As someone who is periodically in areas without good cell service. That’s…pretty badass.
Huh? I’ve had to do that for years now. How did yours ever pair?
Outlook does this and it’s stupid and useless.
So is this.
I don’t have a great answer for you as I haven’t used the Pixel 8 Pro yet.
I have owned a Pixel 7 Pro alongside my Motorola Razr+ and my S23 Ultra and, personally, found the S23 Ultra to be leagues better in software features and hardware performance (I know I’m going to get voted down to hell for saying it). I ended up selling it to a friend.
BUT…based on the current P8P information, it may finally change my mind. I definitely plan to pick one up and use it as my DD for awhile and see. I’m legitimately hopeful.
I actually prefer the Lenovo keyboard to any other laptop keyboard in existence. Be it HP, Dell, Microsoft, Asus, Acer or otherwise.
