Cat@kbin.socialto Android@lemdro.id•Xenomorph Android malware now targets U.S. banks and crypto wallets4·2 years agoWith Lineage OS, you probably can. It also seems to becoming more logical for common users to wipe and reinstall occasionally. Not that it is easy to do. It just seems like a lot of malware is hitting phones and that is likely to get worse.
Cat@kbin.socialto Android@lemmy.world•Which is the least no fuss mainstream phone manufacture?1·2 years agoMost phone manufactures create their own version of Android. Usually they are pretty full of useless junk and a ton of UI changes. By saying “mostly Android” you’re urually saying “mostly [original] Android”.
Cat@kbin.socialto Android@lemmy.world•Google removed Island and Shelter apps from the Play Store2·2 years agoGlad its still working. I’ve been using Island for a while now. Maybe it is because I used Shelter for a long time but I like it better. I’m going to switch back if its still working :–)

It is called OSMAnd~ on F-Droid. It does not have support for AndroidAuto. I ended up buying the licensed version for that and to support the devs.
For online and offline GPS I love OSMAnd+ since it has AndroidAuto support and tons of other features.
PipePanic is pretty addicting.

I started out with Apole products and left long ago. So maybe that changed.
Cat@kbin.socialto Android@lemdro.id•not seeing any non negligible difference between 60 and 120 Hz, am I weird?2·2 years agoI turned mine from 120hz (default) to 60hz to save battery. Probably the only reason I noticed is because I knew it was 120hz. The battery hit wasn’t worth the subtle difference.

Cat@kbin.socialto Android@lemdro.id•newpipe.net removed from Google search results due to DMCA take down request21·2 years agoI thought Newpipe stopped working a long time ago. I could never get it to work. Time to give it another try. If it wasn’t for Google blocking the site, I would have forgotten about Newpipe :-D
Ubuntu is Debian based… I think you can still call it that. So if you don’t like Ubuntu, try Debian. Its more stable/reliable.
The downloads list suddenly won’t load anymore. I was going to get the last version before they added the notice to get pro.
