

I’ve been using KISS for I don’t know how many years at this point. I can’t imagine using anything else at this point. I’m sure that there’s plenty of other great FOSS launchers out there!

Thanks, this makes sense now. Unfortunately, the code is now closed source which means there are no open source street level imagery platforms for OSM that I’m aware of with mobile apps.
It’s not on F-Droid because it’s now proprietary.

Maybe some sort of decentralized, distributed file hosting with relatively high compression requirements? I could contribute a few Gigs and I’m sure that’d be a whole whack of photos.
A mass migration to a federated YouTube alternative couldn’t come sooner.
If you’re looking for effortless then go with Ubuntu. It’s honestly solid. Linux mint is another alternative. There’s other I can recommend but I think stability and not having to fix/tinker as things break unexpectedly sounds like something you value.
No OP, but surely there’s some online forum you could to for support? Not sure that an AMA is the right place. Do include more details though, because “simply will not work” could mean your laptop is at the bottom of the ocean for all we know.
Ubuntu ditched Unity for Gnome 5 years ago. Mint is great too though.
I’m surprised by this decision, since Ubuntu’s strength is stability and by extension, friendliness to new users. Imo, a better move would be to ship a separate “unstable” release with non-LTS kernels.
