Good choice, man. Good choice. I have Arch and Manjaro, they’re good, but there was a time when I was doing photography as a freelancer and I used Ubuntu Studio back then. The codecs are ready and instead of configuring, you can get to work.

I am so disgusted by this. America as an ally is perhaps the worst ever - on par with russia as a neighbor
Linux Mint is not harder for Grandma than windows 10 was. Granny just is used to use windows. Same with children. With less tech people when talking about Linux or choices, I just talk and choose Mint. If they evolve, they will know better. (btw, This is exactly the path that old-schoolers take to become Mint users .)
When you come from world business models, efficiency, where marketing sacrifices all the values for profit, your ideas look rational. However, ideological point of view, does Linux necessary need those people ( who obviously needs Linux )? This is a free world, you can choose exploitation, abuse and inefficiency if you want - Microsoft or Apple.
Agree. It is not that difficult to make correct moves. Coop Trading cola (Made by Olvi in Finland) and Nocco from Sweden are the ones my boys have to be satisfied with (previously Coca-Cola and Monster)
Good article! Thanks for sharing.
To me the real work was to change (gmail, google) login from every place I been in last 10 years. How many places have you logged with google, all the games, forums, apps… Below are the links where you can estimate the extent of the disaster :

I cut off the big 5 (Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, META, microsoft) and Adobe as an added bonus.
Congrats and welcome. You are a good man.
There is limited availability of these fine Central European colas in the Arctic parts of Europe. I am a single father of two teenage boys. They will drink any size bottle in one sip. So we have to rely on these cheap brands. One is Coop, which makes its Coca drinks at a local brewing company called Olvi in Finland. Coop is owned by Coop Trading, a Northern European sourcing company. The brand is present in several Nordic countries. Coop cola is surprisingly good.
I had a lot of Gmail addresses for every possible job and reason. I cutted them down to two email accounts. I tried proton.me, tutamail.com - proton being official and tuta casual, subscription email. I liked tuta but didn’t like proton. I replaced proton with mailbox.org paid plan and I have been very pleased with it. So 2 German provider, Tuta and mailbox. I ll keep my main Gmail rolling in my burner phone for 2 months so transition period is more merciful.
Nice ! To me Microsoft was easy. Google was huge job, because Gmail address was in every possible places. META was easy but influenced maybe the most to my everyday life. I feared that not everything would work with European custom rom android, but /e/OS was extremely positive surprise. Banks and traffic apps work just fine and smoothly.
I buy local Cola and NRJ drinks for my kids ;) No Pepsi or Monster.
“Brussels and Washington have been joining forces for years to tame the technology giant’s global ambitions, using digital diplomacy tools to convince third countries to ditch equipment from the Shenzhen-based firm.”
Well, Silicon Valley based has started to look a lot like Shenzhen based to me lately. And no it is not just Trump (like as it is not Putin).
Session is good alternative
I didn’t have a Pentium processor in my computer, the internet was young, information wasn’t as ready or available, and the mindset wasn’t that you could check everything. I don’t remember how many floppy disks it took to install Slackware, but at least one read error was definitely on the way. I had a 56k modem at home, so I had printed out the installation instructions from work. Compiling everything wasn’t a problem, because I learned to code back in 1983. When I tried to figure out the refresh rate of my screen, I was afraid I would blow it up and go blind. The feeling of freedom was when you were the one who could choose everything for the first time in your virtual life.
Yes I know. And Finns are not easily changing their ways. So 64 x F35 it is then.
👍🏻 Slackware was my 1st distro. It was before kernel 2.0. Now I use windowslike girly distros…
What was you 1st distro back in last millenium?
Finland should buy 4 Super Rafales and 60-80 Gripens, instead of 64 the US F35’s.
I use Mint. I had a phase with different distros, but when I had my son, and he turned 3, I installed Linux Mint for him. Little by little, I started using it myself. Today my son is in the military service and I still use Mint.
It is not always Bash. Zsh comes as a default with some Arch based distros like Manjaro (xfce) and Garuda, plus Kali of course. But what is the point to use PowerShell in Linux? … Azure, Exchange or Windows servers or something else I don’t get?
