IIRC, the windows version of this is a setting where you can hit CTRL and it makes a moderately large circle that contracts towards the pointer. It’s been in since at least W7/Vista, possibly XP. I’ve used it on and off for years (especially with 3 27" monitors) because of how easy it is to lose the cursor.

Having gone through your journey about a year ago (complete with coming from Feit lights and plugs), I don’t think you’re going to find an integration that lets you control them (but if you do, please let me know!)

I use a lot of aquaria sensors (water/temp/presence), sengeled bulbs and outlets, and I think third reality is who makes my motion detectors. I’ve got my office, living room, kitchen/dining room and basement all hooked up with motion or presence activated lights, most of which have scenes that control what light is what color when. Definitely worth investing in equipment that hooks into HA natively, you can hack a lot of stuff together, but it’s so much nicer when things just work.

I ended up going with a zigbee coordinator from Tubes ZB, as it was one of the better recommended ones, but you can go with a cheaper option if it fits your use case. I needed a network coordinator since my HA is virtual and wanted flexibility in where my stuff lives.

Did you update straight to 2023.8.x from 2022.11? If so, glad to hear you didn’t break anything!

I actually just figured out how to do an interim upgrade this morning (and dropped in my comment it for future needs) and it seems to be working so far. Planning on ratcheting forward over the next week and seeing if anything breaks. I’ve got a snap on my machine for my current update, but I don’t want to lower the PAF with spending all day futzing with my system because I broke something. Its bad enough I’m having to deal with my one of my docker containers that shat the bed last night when I updated it…

Anybody know if it’s possible to update to an older version? I’m back on the .4 release, and I’m kinda nervous about upgrading to the latest version without stepping through earlier releases with all the breaking changes I’m aware of since then.

ETA: Figured it out, if you’re running HAOS like me, its as simple as opening the console and running

ha core update --version 2023.5.4 --backup

with your version in place of the 5.4 version obv. Interim upgrade seems to be working so far, will give it a few days and start ratcheting forward until I break something. HAOS instructions and HA Core instructions

I love how the author went from “these units are technically better than the deck” to “I guess if the deck had the same build problems as these other handhelds, they’d be more forgiving”.

Better specs mean dick if your build quality is shit.

Would you be able to keep going on your snap tanget? I’m mainly a windows dude and only dabble in Linux, so I’m curious as to the strong feelings there.
