I’ve been playing it by streaming from my home PC using moonlight. runs well and the battery lasts a long time. still have the issue of trying to play helldivers with controller, but it’s better. and theoretically since it’s not doing the rendering you can hook up an external monitor plus m+k and it’ll still run well

I tried one of these. cool concept, but execution was meh. Would be better with their external device thing that locks the screen in place.
Also, and YMMV, but it was the only VRish thing to make me nauseous (but not overly so) after a while due to the screen moving. I’ve flown jets in VR comfortably, but XCOM on the NReal was troublesome.
also you need a hub type thing to be able to charge the deck and use the glasses at the same time. not a big deal, but then the deck is pretty bulky
in the actual sense or in the Todd Howard sense?
aesopjah@lemm.eeto Android@lemmy.world•Is there an Android phone with 3.5 mm audio jack, removable battery, SD slot and popup camera?English3·2 years agoI have the previous version. Going on 3-4 ears now. It is good. Great even, assuming your camera requirements aren’t super high. The programmable buttons are so excellent and I wish that was a more prevalent feature.
I mean, why not do that, from their perspective. Linux has been around for a long time and Windows still maintains market share. They don’t feel threatened at this point, so might as well have the explanation of how to install Linux be a subtle ad for Windows.
Are those dots cars?
Too right. It’s not like it’s consuming more data
For the record, it’s toast.
It gets recognized by my computer as something, but it can’t read the drive and it is unable to be reformatted or anything.
Bummer, but lesson learned. If anyone out there has a Deckmate, be careful with putting the SD cards in the slots and then having it in the steam carry case.
Good call. Going to try with the expansion card thing it came with
Wow, they really pack that stuff in there. Truly is amazing that such a tiny little piece of tech is hundreds of MB!
I’ll try it in a normal-sized SD carrier card, but I think it’s probably toast.
Thanks for those images, super cool!
I suppose there’s no harm in trying to seal it up and give it a whirl

I assume there are buyable versions, although I didn’t find any in a cursory search just now

aesopjah@lemm.eeto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•What are your must-have accessories? And … How I’m achieving 4TB+ on my Steam deck2·2 years agoDepends on the game, but there’s going to be written sectors no matter what I would think. From Save games to generating terrain in things like Minecraft. It would be interesting if they could do a paired folder thing where all the writing would be done to the OS drive and read from the SD.
That being said, I think the wear will be much less than on the RPi since it’s not running the actual OS off of it, not that I have anything to back up that theory…
Meh. It’s fine in the browser. Wonder what they’ll do better than that
what makes it more usable than just having moonlight?
