So because crypto has been used for scams, no one should use it or support someone who accepts it?
No because it’s used almost exclusively in scams. Also because of the insane environmental impact.
Wait till you hear about fiat.
I’ll say the same thing about platforms like Zelle or wire transfers. If someone asks you for them, it’s almost certainly a scam.
Crypto is only rife with scum because of its privacy.
- Lack of any regulation whatsoever. And increasingly so with the new US administration.

LiberaPay? Kofi? Givebutter?
There are lots of other private ways to donate that don’t involve scams.
Its also rife with scams and incredibly volatile.
I did read the article. Crypto is just not even worth mentioning.
- Develop a privacy-friendly app store.
- Only accept donations through Microsoft.

- Fail.
It’s not pretty but it is familiar to Windows user and very powerful.
Same reason as the rest of the world: too complicated to use. Also pretty much all the DEs are ugly and dated, save for GNOME, in my opinion.

They were kicked out for intentionally violating anti-competitive rules. It’s bullshit. And it’s sad to see anyone at all defending Google here.

Just because they’re not a publicly traded company doesn’t mean they don’t want more money 🤷 but certainly they may want to “stay in their lane” and focus on what they’re best at. Just seems like an absolute fuckton of money they’re leaving on the table to me.

While it does add a tiny amount of friction, the trade-offs are massive.

His brash demeanor is also what keeps it from being better, and causes devs to leave. I know I would never spend my time to contribute to such a toxic environment…
