Endeavoros is fundamentally better in every way, everything manjaro adds makes arch worse, and everything good they have comes from arch.
I’m an anarchocommunist, all states are evil.
Your local herpetology guy.
Feel free to AMA about picking a pet/reptiles in general, I have a lot of recommendations for that!

I use keyd for this.
For graphical installer - there are already plenty of these for arch that aren’t manjaro and don’t fuck up your system like manjaro does
As for package manager frontend… pamac is awful, just use octopi or any TUI.
There was no need to make a whole new distro for those two things, and those two things aren’t even well polished. They should’ve just made those tools for arch, and called it a day.
Manjaro 100%
Everything they add to arch makes arch worse. Everything good about manjaro comes from arch.
I use noto sans medium everywhere. (and the mono version for the terminal ofc)
Hyprland or sway, anything wlroots based really, and I use alacritty.
I installed Manjaro for many people and have thoroughly regretted it, using it was a battle and over time the install would for seemingly no reason break.
I no longer give people manjaro, endeavor is significantly better. Or the arch installer.
I’m gonna say messagease is totally better.

This is the pull request that implements that.

As soon as this gets merged, I’m done with Gboard I hope.
As someone who is a die-hard linux user who would never even consider using windows, I would never even consider a system76 over a framework, honestly.
Really, what it should come down to as an individual is that all of the x11 devs left to work on Wayland because x11 is unmaintainable.
Use Wayland if it works for you, if you find something that doesn’t work, go back to x11 and find the issue tracker and switch back if you care for the benefits later.
The benefits:
The only problems I have currently is sway doesn’t support single window capture and the XWayland clipboard isn’t great.
You should really try a distro that’s actually up to date instead of ubuntu or debian, things are changing rapidly because of wayland, and you might not have a good experience on stable distros until the big transition is done.
Sway, but single window capture and the animations make hyprland very tempting…
Please don’t use manjaro: https://manjarno.snorlax.sh/
I recommend endeavoros if you want something arch based that’s pre-setup and configured.
But debian has a very diffferent usecase from arch, everything is kept up to date in arch, if you need recent versions of things, don’t use debian.
If you want things to not change, like on a server, or a workstation machine where you can’t risk a change breaking something, debian is great!
For gaming, i’d pick arch any day because gaming stuff is chaning so fast. It’s also better for wayland since that’s also changing quickly.
Fedora is somewhat inbetween.
even better: post links to your IT help queries on lemmy to reddit.
This is all i’ve got!
I use f2fs on ssd’s and ext4 on hdd’s
I don’t see the need for snapshots, I backup externally
