The corporitization of linux continues. I jumped to BSD. Just linux at work now.

You could use newsboat -x reload && newsboat -x print-unread as a good start to get the status of unread articles and print a notification (for example using dunst) when the number increases.

Linux should have been a developer’s platform. Sadly it’s incredibly commercial now. Won’t be long before it becomes like Windows for the gAmErS.

Could just get a Pinephone with keyboard. Plus you get a cellular modem.

I use sway or i3 compositor to launch various streaming sites in Chrome or Firefox in kiosk mode. Also Kodi and Steam. I have shortcuts for these mapped to function keys on a combo keyboard touchpad. Works well as support for streaming services in Kodi is not comprehensive

Normal under load. Not normal at idle. Check the thermal paste if it’s the CPU.

I like Kitty Graphics. I like graphics in the terminal for two reasons:

1. integration with MC (midnight commander) style directory browser to show previews of jpegs, pdfs, etc.
2. w3m web browser. I like being able to use that super-light weight webrowser when working/coding to keep me focused.

Reason (1.) works with Kitty. (2.) does not. (2.) is pretty esoteric so I think sixel will probably die out soon due to the user base?

• Ctrl + Alt + F[1-0] to access other TTYs which might still be responsive even if your desktop environment is unresponsive. Pull up top/htop and ID the problematic process to kill.

• Agree with using an oom killer.

• Do you need more swap? Can use swap file if expanding swap partition is problematic.
