Even if you prefer to do that these websites not only offer info about books but also allow people to rate and review it independently from the (online) shop you bought it from. I also use Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB for example.

There is also a dutch website (https://www.filmvandaag.nl/) I’ve started using more, they have an extensive database show the scores of various places (including RT and IMDb) but it is more a news website than a review website.
Okay, that’s nice and all - but what about sharing ‘to-read’ and ‘have-read’ lists with friends and/or family?
I’ve been using hardcover.app it’d a little rough around the edges but a lot better than Goodreads from a UX perspective

IMDb is owned by Amazon. Tmdb is probably the best alternative as of now.
