Could also be the popularity in general among the population, I don’t know but I see also Portugal being almost as big as Spain so i guess it’s just not perfectly spread.

I guess it is because of transportation cost and economy of scales - moving empty jars around is the same amount of space and thus the cost of warehousing and shipping is probably quite similar and at the same time these factories can buy them by the shipping container and you have to pay all the intermediate sellers too. Also the vat you pay is roughly similar since the empty jar is as expensive as the filled jar. My advice (based more on budget friendlyness than sustainability) would be to find a brand that sells something you cannot grow but do like to eat and then buy a bunch of those in the same size.
Also maybe put up a note at work or the Albert Heijn statingthat you are looking for (unbranded) mason jars because of your love for gardening and who knows you might get in touch with someone like-minded or very lonely who happens to have a bunch of spares.
Yes but at the same time i reuse old jars from time to time and there seems to be a million different sizes
These are also not unique users i guess, so could be for example a lot of Irish redditors are subscribed to the UK subreddit but not the other way around i guess
I feel the fediverse Instagram alternatives are furthest from mainstream adoption, so I hope those artists will drive a new group of refugees ‘our’ way.
It’s more about showing information in general, but I consider their neutrality a good thing.

Imperfect Allies Aren’t Enemies
- Critique to build, not tear down
- Organize, don’t just argue
- Movements win, not individuals
- Perfection is the enemy of progress
- Ego kills movements
- Plan for the long game
- Meet people where they are
- Power doesn’t care about feelings
- Division is a weapon used by elites, don’t play along
I can’t imagine this can compete with trains economically, and that is already much more expensive then traveling by ferry or plane. But I would enjoy this more than the other options for sure.
What makes you think so, or do you say that based on the content alone? I don’t have the impression they are pro-battery or against hydrogen, also don’t think they would let themselves be paid without mentioning someone did that.
Tend to pirate e-books, but will check out these options since I know I’m not supporting the author and the industry.
One thing about the graph is that some are labeled as ‘profit share’, what does that mean? The yellow orange color gives a hint it might be a bad thing since it’s not green, but it being next to environment friendly gives me the hint it is a good thing so now I’m confused.
I’ve not used it, but have used Nextory which seems similar. Also Storytell seems similar. What I do like about Nextory is that they have both audiobooks and ebooks, unfortunately not always both so that can be disappointing from time to time.
I’ve found I don’t really listen to audiobooks, prefer to read appearantly. Do think some books are more suited for being listened to than others, especially fiction. Can’t recommend a book since I’ve only listened to Dutch books so far.
Thanks, hadn’t looked for alternatives. Prefer RT over IMDb anyway but I’ll check it out. There is also a dutch website (https://www.filmvandaag.nl/) I’ve started using more, they have an extensive database show the scores of various places (including RT and IMDb) but it is more a news website than a review website.
Even if you prefer to do that these websites not only offer info about books but also allow people to rate and review it independently from the (online) shop you bought it from. I also use Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB for example.
For dutchies there is Hebban (https://www.hebban.nl/) which for the last few years has been owned by CPNB (Collective Propaganda of Dutch Books, which is a foundation owned by the bookseller trade organisation). Quite good, although I’ve used Goodreads besides it because Goodreads is worldwide.
Will check out the services in this thread.
Main thing I’ve done is gathering a lot of information, I think there are some groceries I skipped on but I’m not really a person who buys the same out of habit anyway. I’ve been wanting to switch email providers for a while now, so I’ve started that process. Same with Google services, deleted a bunch of apps (like Google Maps) and I think the next big thing is try and switch os (or further degoogle android) and dip my toes in Linux again after not using it for 10 years or so.
I left Facebook and Instagram years ago and I feel that really improved my life and I feel the tech changes I’m doing now will do the same.
The UK government said it was taking control of Chinese-owned British Steel on Saturday after rushing an emergency law through parliament to avert the shutdown of the country’s last factory that can make steel from scratch.
I like this article being shared with me, so for myself I don’t mind it being here but I agree it would fit better at !europe@feddit.org or somewhere similar.
Nice website, apparently with stuff from everywhere so you can check your own country too!
I don’t know about these specifically but in general BIC lighters are made to be used until gas runs out, not very friendly to the environment indeed. But to be honest, there are many much worse things if you consider you can use these for a while before you throw them out.
Would I be better off with a European Lemmy app for android? Just asking for a friend of course, he really likes the Voyager app.
